The broad
categories of DVE's offered out of the box with Video
Toaster [2] include:
- Expansions
- Wipes
- Curls
- Trajectories
- Fades
- ChromaFX Overlays
- Rotations
- Compressions
- Borders
- Miscellaneous
(I mean, where else does one put a Stampeding Sheep
wipe?)
In all, there are currently more
than 300 transitions available, and these transitions
can be used in either normal or in reverse mode, bringing
the count above 600.
That last category, ChromaFX, may
need a little explanation to people new to the Video
Toaster. ChromaFX is a method of manipulating the real
time video and replacing certain brightness values with
others. This gives you the power to change the color
of your sky, to color-correct footage, or to even make
the video appear as if it's painted with chrome. It
can sometimes prove a challenge to our content creation
team to describe in a single thumbnail image precisely
what the effect will do when launched. While looking
at a folder full of wipe categories, it quickly becomes
apparent what each does. Or it should. Just to make
your job easier, hovering the mouse over any of the
file icons will animate that icon.
So then, when quickly browsing through
a large number of curl wipes, you place your mouse over
one of the choices, and are greeted with .
That makes it perfectly clear what
you'll get. The same applies to every wipe in the library.
It doesn't get any easier than that, does it?
While the debate rages over whether
video production has become driven entirely by special
effects, we at NewTek believe it's important to provide
the maximum in power, flexibility and FUN in visual
communication. Just remember after you possess the unique
power of Video Toaster [2] to please "Wipe Responsibly".
